Events & Fundraisers:

Mustard Seed Extreme Makeover! - An exciting project is underway to renovate the

Mustard Seed Food Bank building by a volunteer organization called Hero Work. The building is in disrepair and ill designed for the many services it provides (with no government funding). However, this project needs community support to get off the ground.  You can help by going to the Hero Work website.

Service Projects - Would you like to organize a service project to benefit the individuals and families at the Mustard Seed Food Bank but don't know where to start?  Seed Ladies can help with ideas, planning and implementation of your project, big or small.  Your group could be a family, a group of parents, children or friends, a church, school or business. There are many simple ways to bring people together for the common goal of helping those less fortunate in our community.  Contact us for more information.

This Christmas will be a little brighter for many families that will be seeking out the Mustard Seed's help to provide their children with what the rest of us take for granted - specialty food items and gifts under the tree - thanks to the following:

  • The "Sweat Sisters - $400
  • Emmanuel Preschool - 15 children's gifts for Christmas hampers along with bags of food

Spread The Word

Our peanut butter fundraiser in September 2012 netted over 250 jars of spreadable goodness.  Because the price of peanut butter has gone up exponentially in the past year, the Mustard Seed kindly asked if we could help.  The following indivduals and groups were key to making this campaign a success.

  • Providence Community Church in Oak Bay
  • Paul Latour, Founder of Hero Work and his co-workers at the Oak Bay Marina Restaurant
  • Glen Lyon Norfolk School community of parents
  • Many individuals and families who took the time and effort to buy extra jars while grocery shopping

Bunny Bags for Children in Need

Easter 2012 found us packing up over 350 paper bugs filled with Easter goodness for children at the Mustard Seed.  This fundraiser would never have succeeded without generous donations from the following:A typical Bunny Bag

  • the Glenlyon Norfolk School community of parents, especially Kate Jordan and Tania Wharton who raised many donations on their own initiative and spread the word far and wide to other parents
  • Rogers Chocolates, which donated 100 bags of Easter candy
  • Dr. Cheryl Handley, a local dentist and GNS parent who donated 300 toothbrushes
  • Crescendo for Hair
  • Emmanuel Preschool community of parents
  • Ross Bay Preschool community of parents
